Artist Spotlight #3 – Mr. Belt & Wezol

As Spinnin Sessions is coming to London this weekend to the iconic venue Ministry Of Sound, we thought we would showcase one of our favourite artists on the lineup. Mr. Belt & Wezol.

They are a duo that hale from the Netherlands, coming from a small town called Delft. They became friends in the early 2010s after Sam Van Wees was asked to play at one of the events that Bart Riem was promoting for. Through this, they went to a lot of festivals in the summer of 2013. They started hanging out at the smaller deep house stages and decided that they both have a passion for the same type of music and decided to start the Mr. Belt & Wezol project.

They started to put their songs up on Soundcloud with the first track being ‘Homeless’. Made by Sam the duo’s producer. Their big breakthrough came when they produced a remake of ‘Renegade Master’ this gained the attention of Oliver Heldens who introduced them to Spinnin Records where they would go on to sign a contract in 2014 and the first single released on the label was an infectious track titled ‘Shiver’.

Their music has been described as ‘Future House’ but really can’t be defined by any one specific genre. Their eclectic sets will see them play an array of different genres from Future House, to Deep House, UK Bass House & Classic House. They have also collaborated with an array of artists including Aevion, Oliver Heldens and many more.

Since their first release on Spinnin Reocrds in 2014, they have gone from strength to strength with their biggest release coming in 2015 titled ‘Finally’ which has had over 11 million streams on Spotify to date.

Their latest track ‘Stupid’ has had an amazing reception so far and we can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us.

We have been supporting them since 2014.
