Big artists are releasing more melodic singles!
Over the past couple of years as the dynamic of dance music has changed, there has been a shift from the boom in 2011-2014 of progressive house and big room to the charts being filled with tropical house, deep house and straight house vibes. Many artists in these genres have had huge successful commercial hits. Some of these include Klingande with ‘Jubel’, Robin Schulz with his successful remix of ‘Waves’ and Oliver Heldens with ‘Gecko’. With two of these tracks reaching number one in the UK singles chart.
This shift has seen a rise in many of the bigger artists, particularly the ones who are known for different genres and who have been in the game for a long time, releasing more radio friendly singles to try and maintain their relevance in an age where dance artists are becoming younger and younger due to advances in technology. What they have been doing is releasing radio edit versions of tracks to suit the more general population whilst alongside this, releasing club mixes to appeal to the fans of the particular genre that they are known for.
This has been evident since 2015, but 2017 has seen more than ever. Particular artists that have done this include Armin Van Burren, who is known as a trance producer. Has recently released two downtempo singles ‘I Need You’ and ‘Sunny Days’.
Another one is Dash Berlin who is also known for trance who has released ‘Love Out Loud! There have been others to such as Tiesto who released ‘On My Way’ and Fedde Le Grande who released ‘Wonder Years’
Whatever the reason behind this it shows the strength of melodic house music that even the big guys are releasing tunes in this genre. It is good news as it shows that the genre is growing. This could be due to the need to stay relevant or as they have gotten older as with all things there likes have changed and they have appreciated the more chilled out vibes this genre brings. We look forward to seeing more of these tunes released in 2018.
