Breakthrough artists of the year!

With 2017 coming to a close, we thought we would countdown our picks for artists that have had the biggest breakthrough throughout the year. Here is a list of our top 3.

Brooks

We start of we Brooks, who hails from the Netherlands. What a year it has been for the 22 year old. Before this year he was a small known producer with releases on future house music and 2-dutch records. This year has seen his status within the dance industry rise dramatically due to some stellar releases. What he has managed to do is to carve his own unique sound within future house. His songs come with a bounce and our heavily bass driven, perfect to get any dance floor moving.

His success has even bigger due to extreme support from Martin Garrix, this shows that he must have immense talent and be one for the future as to get this level of support is not by chance. This has cumulated in collaborating in not one but two tracks with Martin Garrix.

One of those tracks was debuted at Ultra Music festival and entitled ‘Byte’ with the other being ‘Boomerang’ as well as this he had an official remix for Sia & Zayn Malik. The future is definitely bright for this dutch wonder-kid.

John Gibbons

Next up is a producer who goes by the name of John Gibbons who is a DJ that was born in Ireland. He has been a DJ for a number of years but realised that to become big he had to produce his own music. This has cumulated in his breakthrough single that came last year aptly entitled ‘Would I Lie To You’ which reached number 34 in the UK singles chart.

John’s follow up single, ‘P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),  dominated global airwaves and propelled him into the mainstream around the world. Celebrating one of the greatest pop vocals of all time, this international hit  utilizes Gibbons’ take on the original Michael Jackson classic and re-boots it for a new generation. This track managed to reach number 21 in the UK singles chart. He delivers a warm, crisp house sound that is built for any festival. This year alone he has been asked to do numerous remixes for major artists such as Anne-Marie and Olly Murs only adding to his credibility as a DJ, one to watch for in the future!

DJ Licious

DJ Licious has had a stellar year. coming from unknown producer he has risen into the mainstream. This cumulated in him playing the MainStage at Tommorowland festival. Hailing from Belgium he has delivered anthem after anthem this year. With his crusading single ‘I Hear You Calling’ propelling him to new heights. The full package is an emphatic fusion of the bitter with the sweet, matching machine funk against something undeniably humane.

This enabled him to get wider recognition from the likes of Don Diablo. cumulating in having a release on his label Hexagon with the tune ‘I Can’t Stop’.  “When Don Diablo approached me that he liked this record and wanted to sign it to his HEXAGON imprint, I didn’t have to think twice.” – DJ Licious. This shows the incredible rise of the producer and not only this he also has remixed Avicii. The future is bright and expect more from him in 2018.
