DALEXO Interview
Dalexo is a talented young producer who caught our attention last year with a string of dance-pop gems such as ‘Way Too Long’, ‘All My Love’ & ‘Catch A Wave’. To celebrate his growing success & profile, we recently caught up with him to learn more about his journey as a producer and introduce him to our audience, as he is an artist on the rise.
1. As an introduction, we would like to know where you come from, how you came up with your artist name and the type of music you make.
I’m a Spanish artist and music producer from Barcelona (Spain) who started producing music in 2018; my artist name, DALEXO, came in a random, interesting way we could say, haha, my name is Alex, and while I was at home watching a live from Tiesto at Ultra Miami, I said, I want my alias to sound more international so I added a D in front of my name and then an O at the end, and it sounded more Italian, DALEXO.
2. We would describe the music you make as chilled dance-pop & tropical house. Was there any artist who inspired you to make this kind of music? How did you decide to make this the style of music you produce?
When I first started producing music, my inspiration was Avicii; you can notice it in the melodies I do. Now, my inspirations are Lost Frequencies, Kygo, and a couple more. I like to be myself when I do music; I think that makes me stand out the most.
3. As your monthly listeners are growing, is it important to be releasing singles regularly?
It’s not necessary to release that often, but I love to produce music and show it to the world; that’s why I release more constantly with two songs per month.
4. You have released on many acclaimed labels, such as Paraiso & Soave. How did you get your first tracks signed to these record labels?
The first time I sent a song to Soave was through an artist that had already released on that label, and with Paraíso, as it was a very young label, I sent through their page where you could send demos
5. Do you plan to change the style of music you produce, or is it important to stick to a particular sound to help create a brand for yourself as an artist?
My music style can change depending on my mood. Lately, I’ve been focused on Chill Dance Music.
6. What are your goals for 2024?
Is there anything exciting that we can expect? My goals for 2024 are to release an album, surpassing 50 million streams in less than a year, and be better than the year before.
