Interview with Erlandsson

We recently caught up with DJ & Producer Gustav Erlandsson about his latest release ‘Begging’ & his year so far.

Hi, Welcome to Melodic Nation; where are you from, and how did you come up with your artist name?

Hi! Thank you!!  I’m from Sweden and im using my surname “Erlandsson” as my artist name! 

How would you describe your music to anyone that hasn’t heard of you before?

Uplifting with a lot of happy melodies! 

Most of your releases are with TGR music, how did that relationship start and do you think they are the perfect home for your music?

That is correct, One of my producer friends signed there when they just started releasing edm music and I made a remix of one of his songs and from there we started talking and I ended up signing there and I have stayed since then

You recently released the single ‘Begging’ how did this track come about and how would you describe it? 

I have been working together with The High for a few years and Begging was the second song we made during last summer, the other one was Legit. Its a more dark vibe to it but still a lot of catchy melodies combined with a drop that highlights the bass!

You have been producing for a while but started this project in 2016 what was the reason behind starting this project and going for this particular sound?

Before 2016 I was working in a duo with a friend of mine and from there I wanted to pursue my own project so I just released my first song Summer Night and then just kept releasing. I think my sound has changed a lot throughout the years but I’ve always tried to keep the melodies beeing somewhat similiar.

Any artists that inspired you in the beginning?

To say something different then Avicii, Alesso etc with me beeing from Sweden would be wrong, so I’ll say these two. 

Any plans for the rest of 2023?

A few new tracks ready that I’m currently scheduling for release!
