Tomorrowland starts tomorrow!
It’s beyond a festival,” Armin van Buuren once told CNBC, “it’s a music festival combined with a theme park combined with a food festival combined with a cultural event.”
He was speaking about Tomorrowland, one of the best dance festivals out there. This magical event takes place in Belgium. This year it is taking place across two weekends, due to demand. It starts tomorrow from July 20-22 and July 27-29.
The maximum capacity is 70,000 people. Just over half of the festival’s audience is Belgium. With the rest coming from all around the world. Some 38,000 people stay at their dedicated camping area called Dreamville. More than 1,000 artists are playing this year covering the whole spectrum of dance music genres.
Today the festival has 16 stages. “We cannot grow anymore. So the only solution we had was to double the festival,” said Wilmsen one of the founders of the festival which is having its 14th edition.
Tommorowland has remained independent. “I’m convinced that being fully independent made us take the right steps and choices in creativity, organisation but also an economic reality. For new initiatives, such as international festivals and ancillary business, we might need the right partner and have a very good relationship with a lot of big companies in live entertainment, but Tomorrowland is our little diamond, shaped from the heart which needs to stay as pure as possible.”
They have 80 staff working full time and over 12,000 people during the event. Like each year the stages will be re-imagined to fit the theme of the festival for the year.
They have also announced the full live stream schedule for weekend 1.
This is to us one of the best festivals out there, due to its location, diverse lineup. The fact that it also caters to a European crowd so features many more DJs that play future house music and tropical house music.
